The N-MUSD Preschools implemented the Hampton-Brown Avenues Pre-K English Language Development Program to provide developmentally-appropriate, systematic support for oral language development of children who have a first language other than English. Each Avenues Pre-K unit promotes concepts, vocabulary, language function, and language pattern with songs, chants, big books, and Lizzie the Language Lizard puppet. The program is aligned with the English Language Development program, also published by Hampton-Brown, utilized for English Learners in grades kindergarten through sixth in N-MUSD.
