Community Service Program


Students attending high school in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District must complete 40 hours of Community Service with a non-profit organization to fulfill the high school graduation requirement (Board Policy 6146.1). It is recommended that high school students complete 10 hours per year to ensure completion of the Community Service Graduation Requirement.


 Community Service activities assist students through:

  • Increased student engagement/academic achievement
  • Improved character and social behavior
  • Exposure to new careers and organizations in the community

Please obtain a Community Service Verification Form from your school's counseling office.


Please note that there are some changes to the Community Service requirement commencing with the entering freshman class for 2017 - 2018. Please contact your school site for more information.
