Student and Community Services

The Student and Community Services Department strives to provide the best educational opportunities for all of our students and staff within the Newport Mesa Unified School District.  Some of the many programs that we offer are as follows: Restorative Practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Truancy Resolutions, Community School and Alternative Education Referrals, Mental Health, Bullying Prevention and Intervention, Substance Use Prevention and Intervention, Homeless Education/ Foster Youth Services, and Other Services.

Our goal is to provide a safe and viable learning environment for all students within our District.

Other Services

Inter District Transfers:

  • Parents must pick up all Inter-District transfer forms from Newport Mesa USD District Office. Once approval is given, parents will submit approved transfer to the new District for approval. All out of District incoming transfer requests, please call our department at 714-424-5016.

Community Home Education Program (CHEP)

  • Administered by the Orange County Department of Education, CHEP is an award-winning independent study program that offers free resources to parents who choose to educate their children at home. CHEP provides curriculum and the support of certificated educators to students and the adults who teach them.

Work Permits: (Only for private school students residing in the Newport-Mesa boundaries and all students during breaks)
