Newport-Mesa Unified School District Announces Recommendation for new Special Education Coordinator

Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Kimberly Doyle as the new Special Education Coordinator. Ms. Doyle has more than 20 years of experience in Special Education. She has a broad range of experience in areas of autism, severe disabilities, positive behavioral support, academic curriculum and assessment, and full inclusion methodologies.

Ms. Doyle has served as a classroom teacher and has been an autism/preschool program specialist in the Ocean View School District. She has distinguished herself as an educational leader in her field with vast knowledge of special education law, curriculum, instructional strategies, and a passion for students with special needs.

“I am excited to support Newport-Mesa students, parents, and staff as the special education coordinator. I look forward to working as a team for the success of our students with special needs,” said Ms. Doyle.

As a preschool/autism program specialist, Ms. Doyle built an impeccable reputation for approaching a diverse range of difficult issues with empathy and respect. She works to build understanding and support for the students, schools, parents, and staff that she supports. Her ability to listen for understanding has helped guide parents through more than 1,000 Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. She has led professional development for teachers, administrators and support staff on the implementation of educational curriculum and supervised applied behavioral analysis programs.

“Ms. Doyle brings with her incredible knowledge, understanding, and passion for special education,” said Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Sara Jocham. “We are excited to have her as a member of our Newport-Mesa family,” she said.

Ms. Doyle received her administrative credential through the Orange County Department of Education, her master’s degree in special education and her multiple subject and special education teaching credentials from the University of San Diego, and her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from San Diego State University.

Ms. Doyle will begin her new role in September. Her appointment is scheduled for ratification by the Board of Education at the September 12, 2017 board meeting.
