About the Event

Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD), in partnership wit the Newport Mesa Schools Foundation, hosts an annual State of the Schools Breakfast at the beginning of each school year.

In previous years this event has welcomed more than 200 attendees from throughout the Newport-Mesa community representing the schools, district staff, parent leaders, city council leaders, business and local community members. The goal of the breakfast is to expand the District's outreach and contact with our local community and continue to build partnerships and relationships that enhance educational opportunities for our students.

Proceeds from the $32 donation (represents $1 per school) covers the cost of the breakfast, and will also go toward the foundation's annual grants to teachers program benefiting teachers and students throughout NMUSD.

Student ambassadors from all six Newport-Mesa Unified School District high schools will be in attendance to assist with the breakfast and are dedicated to making the event a success!

The District's inaugural state of the schools breakfast event was held on September 24, 2014.  The event welcomed over 200 attendees from throughout the Newport-Mesa community representing the schools, district staff, parent leaders, city council leaders, business and local community members. The goal of the breakfast is to expand the District's outreach and contact with our local community and continue to build partnerships and relationships that enhance educational opportunities for our students.

The event was a fundraiser co-hosted by the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation.  The proceeds from the $32 donation (represents $1 per school) to cover the cost of the breakfast go towards the foundation's annual grants to teachers program benefiting teachers and students throughout N-MUSD.

Corona del Mar High School was selected as the host school for the inaugural event.  As the host school, the CdM zone was highlighted with performances by Lincoln Elementary School and Corona del Mar High School.  ASB groups on campus also donated and provided the centerpieces for the event and CdM's ASB President provided the closing remarks.  Student ambassadors from all 6 N-MUSD high schools were in attendance and assisted with the event.

The event will rotate among N-MUSD's four comprehensive high schools next.  The 2015 State of the Schools Breakfast will be hosted by Estancia High School.  A date will be shared soon.
