SB 172

Senate Bill 172 (SB 172), which took effect on January 1, 2016, suspended the administration of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) and the requirement that students completing grade 12 successfully pass the high school exit examination as a condition of receiving a diploma of graduation from high school. The law also requires school districts to grant a diploma to any student who completed grade 12 in 2004-05 or a subsequent school year, and has met all applicable graduation requirements other than the passage of the high school exit examination. Students that qualify under these provisions were mailed a notice in mid-April to the last address of record. If you received this notice, or if you think you might qualify for a diploma under SB 172, please fill out the Student Transcript and Records Request Form and check off the box for 'SB 172.' Once you have submitted your request, the NMUSD Central Index Department will initiate a verification process and contact you with more information.
