    NMUSD schools are currently closed.

    At the March 31 Board of Education Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Fred Navarro will recommend to the Board of Education that Distance Learning continue until May 8, with classes tentatively scheduled to return to the classroom on May 11.

    About Our School

    About Us

    Newport-Mesa Unified School District was unified on July 1, 1966. The district includes 58.83 square miles including Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Corona del Mar. 

    Our Superintendent Dr. Fred Navarro and the seven member governing school board oversees 32 schools and approximately 20,000 students. Our district is comprised of 22 elementary schools, 2 intermediate schools, 2 middle/high schools, 2 high schools, 3 alternative education programs, and 1 adult education program (in partnership with Huntington Beach Adult School.) 

    We employ approximately 1,700 certificated employees and 1,500 classified employees
