Level I and Level II Technology Proficiency Program

If you are interested in Technology Proficiency Certification, please contact your Site Technology Coordinator or email techprof@nmusd.us .

Level I Technology Proficiency: (for all District staff)
District employees now have the opportunity to learn basic computer skills and become Level I Technology Proficiency certified through the NMUSD Ed Tech Department.

Level II Technology Proficiency: (for Educators only)
Prerequisite: Level I Certification
Level II is specific to the application of educational technology skills in an educational setting. This includes customizing the curriculum to enhance its relevance and value, improving student access to relevant technologies, and using technology to more effectively meet the individual students needs.

    • Level II candidates must be observed in the classroom using educational technology with students. Observations will be arranged with the instructors.
    • Teachers holding a 2042 credential (received after July 2002), may already have taken a Level II class in their credential program or to get their clear credential.

Level II is offered through the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE).

PLEASE NOTE:  Testing-Out of Level II is not an option

Level I FAQs

Q: How do I start the process of earning Level I Technology Proficiency Certification?
A: Contact techprof@nmusd.us with your request to start the process.

Q: How do I get started with CustomGuide? A: Visit http://www.nmusd.us/training and click on “Sign Up for a Custom Guide Account”.

Q: Can I use CustomGuide after I have completed Level I Technology Certification?
A: Yes, you are encouraged to use CustomGuide to continue your learning. However, do not try to access CustomGuide on weekdays from 3:30pm-6:30pm as we will have other district staff using CustomGuide in Tech Skills for Classified classes.

Q: Will my CustomGuide account expire?
A: As long as NMUSD has licenses with CustomGuide and you don’t try to access CustomGuide weekdays between 3:30pm and 6:30pm, your account will remain active.

Q: What happens if I try to access CustomGuide weekdays between 3:30pm and 6:30pm?
A: NMUSD has limited concurrent licenses for CustomGuide. When you login to CustomGuide, you are taking up one of the training “seats”. Since we need to have those “seats” available to participants in the Tech Skills for Classified classes, we will need to deactivate your account to make it available.

Q: What happens if I try to access CustomGuide and all the licenses are already being used?
A: NMUSD has limited concurrent licenses for CustomGuide so if you try to login when all the licenses are already in use, you will get a message letting you know that space is unavailable. You can try to access CustomGuide at a later time and in the meantime you can utilize the Atomic Learning video tutorials:
