Sexual Harassment Policy

Students

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District Board of Education is committed to maintaining a safe school and working environment that is free from harassment and discrimination. The Board prohibits at school or at school-sponsored or school-related activities, sexual harassment targeted at any student by anyone.

Complaints regarding sexual harassment shall be investigated and resolved in accordance with law and district procedures specified in AR 1312.3 - Uniform Complaint Procedures.

Employees

The Board of Education prohibits sexual harassment of district employees and job applicants based on the person's race, color, ancestry, national origin, immigration status, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, pregnancy, genetic information, military and veteran status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression or the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Complaints of sexual harassment shall be filed in accordance with AR 4031 - Complaints.
