Applies to students residing outside of NMUSD boundaries and are requesting to attend a school within NMUSD.
- Contact your district of residence and request the Inter-District transfer form, which includes a release signature from that district
- Once you have the completed form, scan and email it to Student Services at plytz@nmusd.us for Elementary (TK-6th), and jpina@nmusd.us for Secondary (7th-12th), to initiate the request process
-
If approved, this agreement may be revoked by the district of attendance for the following reasons:
- Student is excessively tardy or absent from school, or student is brought to school excessively early or left excessively late.
- Student fails to uphold appropriate behavior standards.
- Student has poor academic performance.
- Insufficient space in the school and/or grade level.
- False or misleading information was provided.
- Students or parents fail to follow school rules.
-
While there is a process for Inter-District Transfer Requests, as outlined in Board Policy 5117 and Administrative Regulation 5117, Newport-Mesa Unified School District generally approves inter-district attendance permits for students in only three limited circumstances:
- To allow the student to remain until the natural school break when the student’s parents/guardians have moved out of the district during that year;
- To consider allowing the student to remain with a class graduating/promoting that year from an elementary, intermediate, or senior high school;
- To allow a high school senior to attend the same school the student attended as a junior, even if the student’s family moved out of the district during the junior year.
