Costa Mesa Middle/High School invited current and future Mavericks and Mustangs to its Spring Spotlight last week. The Western-themed evening was an opportunity for families to meet teachers and coaches, meet student representatives of the clubs on campus, explore the arts and STEM programs, and learn about the electives the school offers. 

After an excerpt from the upcoming performance of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” which highlighted the orchestra, drama, and dance departments, attendees were invited to tour the campus and visit booths dedicated to the many clubs, activities, and academic programs offered. Classrooms were open to visitors, as ambassadors from both the middle and high school Associated Student Body (ASB) guided guests through Art Alley, the Athletics Depot, Club Corner, and more. Recent projects from MESA Day were displayed by science and engineering students, and Project Lead the Way students showed off what they’ve learned in robotics. 

Academic activities such as AVID and Mock Trial spoke about the benefits of such programs to student success. Groups such as the Kindness Club, the Garden Club, Handball Club, and Skate Club focused on their combined mission of acceptance. “Everyone is welcome in the Mesa Nation. There are so many amazing opportunities to get involved,” said Principal Dr. Dipali Potnis.
