Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Susan Ungaro, who brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, as the new principal of Lincoln Elementary School.

Ms. Ungaro has led schools focused on academic excellence, fostering inclusive communities, and strengthening instructional practices, which will benefit Lincoln Elementary.

"We are excited to welcome Ms. Ungaro to our District and the Lincoln Elementary School community," said Assistant Superintendent of Achievement, Innovation and Continuous Improvement Socorro Shiels. "Her track record of academic excellence, innovative teaching, and student-centered leadership makes her an outstanding fit for Lincoln. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on students, staff, and families."

Ms. Ungaro has consistently demonstrated excellence in fostering engaging learning environments. Her extensive experience leading innovative instruction, building collaborative environments, and using data to improve student experiences and outcomes will support a smooth transition and continued success at Lincoln Elementary. 

Before becoming a principal, Ms. Ungaro served in several leadership roles in the Fullerton School District, including assistant principal, program specialist, and teacher on special assignment for innovation and instructional support. She led districtwide professional development, expanded STEM learning opportunities, supported instructional technology initiatives, and partnered with colleagues and families to create engaging learning experiences and strengthen the overall student experience.
