apply now for a paid summer education career jumpstart experience

We are thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting new summer opportunity designed specifically for students interested in exploring a career in education!

Our Education Career Jumpstart program offers high school students the chance to gain hands-on experience working with elementary-school children in our local NMUSD summer programs while earning competitive pay and college credit simultaneously. No experience required!

Program Highlights

  • Paid Experience: Students will earn $16.90 per hour.
  • Flexible Scheduling: The program runs from June 12-July 10. Students must be available between 8:30 AM-12:30 PM, but they have the flexibility to choose which consistent days of the week (Monday-Friday) they would like to work (up to 20 hours per week).
  • College Credit (Dual Enrollment): To participate, students must enroll in EDUC G180: Family, School, and Community Partnerships. This is a dual enrollment course offered asynchronously online through Golden West College (GWC), making it easy to balance with their work schedule. This course requires 10 hours of field work, which will be fulfilled by the student's work in the elementary program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a current NMUSD students and at least 16 years old by the start of the program (June 12).
  • Must apply to GWC and be enrolled in the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) section of the EDUC G180 dual enrollment course.
  • Must have a passion for working with children and a desire to learn about the field of education.
  • Must be eligible to work.

This is a unique chance for students to get paid, earn college credit, and jumpstart their professional journey all before the next school year begins.

Space is limited. Interested students should apply now.
