As we begin a new school year, I am pleased to welcome our students, families, employees, and community back to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD).

The start of a school year brings renewed optimism and a shared opportunity to help every student discover their purpose, pursue their passions, and prepare to make a meaningful impact in the world.

Guided by our new Strategic Plan and the belief that all students are all our students, we remain committed to ensuring each student is seen, heard, supported, and safe. At the center of that commitment is high-quality instruction: rigorous, relevant learning grounded in common standards, strong relationships, and responsive support for each learner.

Our greatest impact comes from what adults do together. Through professional learning teams, shared decision-making, and the purposeful use of evidence, our educators strengthen instruction, learn from one another, and take collective responsibility for student success. This collaboration helps create consistent, engaging learning experiences across classrooms and schools while honoring the strengths and needs of each community.

To our teachers, support staff, and administrators, thank you for the expertise, care, and commitment you bring to our students each day. To our families and community partners, thank you for your trust and partnership. Together, we create the conditions in which every student can learn, belong, and thrive.

This year also marks the 60th anniversary of NMUSD. As we celebrate the milestones, people, and stories that have shaped our district, we will remain focused on building an even stronger future for the students and communities we serve.
