The N-MUSD Board of Trustees is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Fred Navarro to the position of Superintendent of Newport-Mesa Unified School District.  Dr. Navarro comes to N-MUSD with more than 30 years of experience.  He is currently the Superintendent of Lennox School District in Lennox, California.

Newport-Mesa held an extensive search process and received over 50 applications.  After initial screening and background checks, the Board interviewed 6 candidates.  The finalists were forwarded for interviews by the 26 member Community Interview Committee.  After considerable discussion, the Board selected Dr. Fred Navarro as its top candidate.

Dr. Navarro will be formally approved and introduced at the June 26, 2012 Board Meeting.  His official start date is still being determined.  Dr. Barbot will remain in the district serving as the Interim Superintendent until July 31 and assist with the transition.
